Lindsey Stirling - Take Flight [Official Music Video - YTMAs]

When I first saw this clip it reminded me of M.C Escher paintings and surrealism art. With the music to match it was so breathtaking and amazing.. It gave me shivers sown the spine and I wished that I continued on learning the violin when I was a kid. Yet every time I hear a great violin it brings back memories as a kid and also my Dad playing...

"Holding The Man" Movie ~ Part One

It's not often that you see a movie that stops you in your tracks and that leaves you so haunted days afterwards. Watching the movies only a couple of rows back from the screen everything seemed so much larger then life that it was nearly unbelievable. It was just an ordinary Tuesday night at the Dendy movie cinema in Newtown where I got free tickets from the Showfilm First company. I met Deb in the city because she was coming from her first day at work so we could see the 6:30pm showing of the movie. We had a bit of Thai food nearby and was only about 5 minutes late for the movie yet it had already started by that time because by the looks of it I don't think it had any previews. We walked into a totally packed theatre where we just managed to find a couple of seats the second row back from the  screen.

Over the next couple of hours we were transported back into a time where the worlds and gay history was changing forever. Where the age of innocence was gone forever and where gay men  were eyeball to eyeball with death. Also how an innocent and free teenage love evolved with an adult backdrop of a rapidly changing times with parents, friends, families, schools, Catholic church etc were dealing with the boy's sexuality yet the spectre of AIDS as well. We were like a fly on the wall being let into the lives of these boy's who once lived, breathed, felt and ultimately fell in love and somehow stayed in love over the next 15 years despite separation, differences of life's ups and downs. During the movie I found myself crying with such a heartfelt pain and sadness because things were coming up for me from my past. Deb was crying as well next to me because we were both so very moved with the movie.

It also showed that despite both the boys imperfections and flaws especially Tim's wayward ways there still was a such a strong yet tender bond. Also to have an insight into what both of the boy's families was going through and feeling was also amazing as well. I wondered to myself how the parents and families felt seeing the two guys going through this. To see a once healthy person get sicker and sicker being terminally ill to eventually die. What made it even more sad was how young they both were at the time this happened. Yet you also had to remember these types of stories of young people were being repeated many thousands of time the world over. Not only the gay men yet the people who had blood transfusion's and other innocent people as well who didn't ask to get it in the first place.

What also made you think was how it gave you a really honest account of what the gay man scene  was really like in those days where there was so much sleaze an promiscuity. I'm not to sure how much has changed these days there in the scene yet all this type of thing is a whole other subject which I don't want to go into. When I was watching the movie I wondered what drove these guy's to do what they did? What attracted them to that? Why even with a committed relationship they still had a roving eye? Amongst so many other unanswered questions..

Anyway there is still so much to say about this movie and my feeling for it yet I will share more later. I've got things I've got to do today so this is why I've decided to do this blog in two parts... Yet I hope that this makes you think... Until later dear readers.....

Deb's Birthday

Happy Birthday to my dear honey Deb's. It was her birthday on Friday 17th July 2015. Little did she know that I had most of the weekend full of surprises for her. She knew  a few little bits and pieces about what was happening for Sunday night dinner. Yet in between times she had no real idea until her birthday morning. Here's  quite a few pictures from the weekend for you all to see....

Deb getting her cake at my parents
I don't know what happened with the uploads of the photo's because they are out of order and all over the place. Yet you get the general idea of it.  The timetable for Debs' birthday was basically we were going to go to the growers food market at Warriewood http://www.thebeachesmarket.com/  with my Mum and have a look around. That's if it wasn't raining on the Friday morning and take it from there with the surprises.

When we woke up  in the morning it was raining and grey so my Mum had to cancel. Deb decided she want to go  a cute little Swedish cafe down in Manly which I showed her before. http://www.fikaswedishkitchen.com.au/

Afterwards we went to Target where I bought he a few new items of clothing for both her and I. We came back home for a short breather for about an hour or so to pack for our hotel stay in the city for the next two nights. The dinner surprise and after dinner surprise was going to cut it a bit fine yet I was determined to try to make them both. Luckily they were both down in Manly as well which was good. Trying to keep all these different little things from my honey was so hard and I loved seeing the surprises on her face... For dinner we went to a beautiful Greek place that we went to a some time before http://ouzeria.com.au/

The meal was absolutely divine where we were both so full. From there we were running a bit late to the next surprise which was at a local church in Manly. I was taking Deb to a CD launch of a Christian singer.... http://www.stmattsmanly.org.au/#

It was so  moving that we were both in tears hearing the most amazing music. I bought Deb the CD and I was so grateful that everything I had planned for the weekend was turning out. When I say planned... I meant I had been trying to plan and prepare everything over the past one to two months in every way. From there we went to the Capitol Square Hotel to stay the next two nights. http://www.rydges.com/accommodation/sydney-nsw/capitol-square-sydney/welcome/

We saw the matinee version of Les Miserables which we both cried in and both found it so moving... http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/Les-Miserables-tickets/artist/803968#artist_table_focus

We then went out to dinner out at Chinatown because it was so close and in walking distance http://www.eastocean.com.au/

After staying overnight in the hotel we were both looking forward to going back to our little home for a much needed rest. We were soooooo exhausted after such a huge big weekend and needed a bit of a rest. After that we went up to my parents where my Mum had a gourmet treat of her beautiful amazing cooking. Also my Dad's and parents hospitality who have more than truly have welcomed Deb into the family big time...

It was a quiet night yet still a late night just the same... We got home safely where Deb's huge birthday weekend had finally finished with great happiness. I'm so glad that my beautiful lady had such an amazing time after all the rough times she had lately with other things in her life. After the weekend we both felt so much closer together. One of the things I enjoyed the most was seeing her reactions to all her surprises and seeing her smile also enjoy herself again... After all she is the best present for me that God has ever given me. I feel so blessed to have this amazing woman Deb in my life... I'm glad she had a Happy Birthday...
